This all started when we noticed a batch of red chillies had taken on a distinct tomato-like flavour after a couple of months’ lacto-fermentation.

Inspired by the hangovers of a bygone era, we pulled together all the classic ingredients for a Bloody Mary – taking a liberty with the addition of ground pepperleaf for an extra kick – and created this concoction.

Use it either as a cocktail base (just add booze, tomato juice and a garnish!) or as a flavour-enhancing sauce for salty fried snacks, scrambled eggs on rye or at your next BBQ.
