Shiro Miso Avo Toast

So sweet and preciously umami, Shiro miso complements creamy things like avocado really well. Adding a little lime and sesame oil enhances acidity and mouthfeel, waking your lil’ tastebuds up with a bang.


You need:

1/2 Hass or Shepherd Avocado

1tsp Shiro Miso paste

1/2tsp sesame oil

Squeeze of lime (10-15mL? How hard do you squeeze?)

1/2 Red Chili, deseeded and chopped into rings

Sprinkley bits (optional: seaweed flakes, sesame seeds, furikake, whatever’s handy)

Big slice of sourdough

Butter for toast (optional, but do it.)


  1. Create toast by placing sliced bread into a toaster and engaging to an ‘on’ position.

  2. In a bowl combine lime, sesame oil and miso. Stir well until miso has thinned slightly.

  3. Add avocado in chunks and coat well.

  4. Butter toast, add avocado mix on top. Top with chili and sprinkley bits.
